Direct answer
To start GTA RP you need GTA V on PC, the free FiveM client and a Cfx.re account. Pick a server that matches your language and the style you want, read its rules, complete any whitelist or application it asks for, then connect from FiveM and create your character.
What you need
- A legal copy of GTA V for PC (Steam, Epic Games or Rockstar Games Launcher)
- The FiveM client and a free Cfx.re account
- A working microphone for voice servers
- A Discord account, which most servers use for whitelists and support
Steps
Install GTA V and launch it once
Install GTA V on PC and start it once in story mode so the game finishes its first-run setup. FiveM needs the base game files in place.
Install FiveM and sign in
Download FiveM from the official site, run the installer and sign in with a Cfx.re account. FiveM locates your GTA V install on first launch.
Choose a server
Filter by language and region, then decide between open servers you can join right away and whitelist servers that ask for an application. Serious servers expect you to stay in character the whole time.
Read the rules and apply if required
Join the server Discord, read the rules in full and send the application if the server uses one. Most removals in the first week come from rules newcomers skipped.
Connect and create your character
Connect from the FiveM server list or with the address the server gives you. Build a character with a name, a background and a reason to be in the city, and start with a legal job while you learn the server.
Exceptions
GTA RP does not run on PlayStation or Xbox. Console players can only roleplay in public GTA Online sessions, without server rules or dedicated scripts.
